My wife and I

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I have been involved in education for seven years (5 as an Education Assistant and 2 as a TTUC). I was raised by a teacher in that my dad was a P.E. teacher in School District 57 and was an inspiring teacher. I was born and raised in Prince George B.C. and am very familiar with the area and the people. I started my journey into education on his encouragement as well as that of other teachers I met in school and students and children I worked with as a coach and educator. I Believe in bringing joy into the classroom by engaging with students and developing relationships of respect. I’m enthusiastic about running and sports but also enjoy creating communities of encouragement and humour. I see teaching like running a marathon both are rewarding but require focus and preparation, they also create community and give people a space to push themselves. I want my classroom to mirror these values and I want to join my students in their pursuit of learning and bring in their families and communities around them to encourage and support them in their education. I am most familiar with Physical Education and English Literature as subjects, but I remain open to all learning experiences that cross my path. I hope to be the kind of teacher that is enthusiastic and helps students realize their potential by being courageous and having empathy for one another through their education. I hope to model humility and continued learning to my students so they can see my commitment to empathy and provide an example of courage and humility in failure. I will be using this blog to share the different experiences I have in the Education program at the University of Northern British Columbia. I hope to show the different influences and ideas that I can use to improve my teaching methods and philosophy.
